Rogue Fortress Gazember
Not far from the outskirts of Eget lies a large wooden structure that appears to’ve been built quite hastily, and fondly displays many dangerous features that, even to the untrained eye, appear to be part of torture devices or trap-like machinations. The fortress is home to 20-30 men and women at any given time. Each clad in dark leathers, wielding swords and similar metallic, sharpened weapons, and with a supply of horses that allow them to quickly travel en masse.
These rogues are a collection of ne’er-do-wells from all over the region that have found a safe haven from the law-governed territories, keeping them just far enough away to ignore the threat they represent. Generally comprised of thieves, murderers, slavers, and worse – the inhabitants of the fortress rotate as individuals choose to set out and ply their trade, or others arrive to seek comfort within the sturdy walls.
The location was chosen several years ago, primarily due to the nearby farming village and the great distance from any lawful threats. Raiding Eget and terrorizing her people has become something of a pasttime for anyone residing within the fortress. So much so, that they sometimes protect the town from other brigands that attempt to encroach upon what they consider to be ‘their territory’. In contrast, the goblins that also frequent the town are often left alone as the raiders often view their attacks on the town as a sick form of entertainment.
